NCAA Division I soccer: under NCAA Division I rules, coaches may begin recruiting communication with a prospect (emails, calls, texts and direct messages) on June 15 after the prospect's sophomore year of high school. NCAA D1 men's soccer dead period: Dec 11–14, 2026 (no in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations).
NCAA D1 women's soccer dead period: Dec 16, 2026–Jan 6, 2027 (no in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations).
What works
Coach emails that get opened
- The player writes and sends it, from their own email. CC a parent if you like.
- One program per email. Coaches can tell when an email was sent to everyone.
- Lead with grad year, position and club in the subject line.
- Film first: your NextUp link has it all in one tap.
- Fill out the program's recruiting questionnaire too.
- Follow up only with something new: film, a game coming up, or a thank-you after a camp. Max 3 per program.
